Our
Philosophy
Every project begins with a careful reading of its context; site, history, and program paired with the technical understanding required to translate ideas into built form. Through a structured and iterative process, each project is shaped as a unique response, grounded in clarity and purpose.Structure is approached with precision and sensitivity, not only as a means of support but as a generator of form and expression. Clear structural logic reflects an underlying simplicity, bringing coherence and order to the design. We integrate local craft, materials, and traditional knowledge with contemporary construction techniques to create contextually rooted and ecologically responsive architecture. This dialogue between the familiar and the experimental allows each project to evolve as a distinct and thoughtful intervention.
Architecture, with Intent.
Atelier 26 believes that good architecture begins with clarity. The ability to understand what a space needs to be, what it needs to do, and what can be left out.
We approach design through restraint rather than excess, finding character in proportion, material, light, and the relationships between spaces. We are interested in the moments that make an environment meaningful: the anticipation of entering, the framing of a view, the warmth of a surface, or the quiet transition between one experience and another.
Our work is guided by the belief that architecture should be experienced as much as it is seen. Every decision, from the overall spatial arrangement to the smallest material detail, should contribute to a coherent whole. Nothing needs to be incidental, and nothing needs to compete for attention.
We see constraints as an integral part of the design process. Function, budget, material availability, and the realities of construction are not separate from the creative process; they are the conditions through which good design takes shape. We strive to create work that is thoughtful in concept, rigorous in execution, and enduring in its relevance.
Whether working with a home, a hospitality space, or a commercial environment, our aim remains the same: to create places with a distinct sense of identity, grounded in their context and shaped around the people who inhabit them.
Less is not the objective. More meaningful is.
